Wenn man als Musiker nach ein paar Jahren im „Geschäft“ viel gesehen und mitgemacht hat, gibt es im Großen und Ganzen zwei Wege, mit dem Dasein umzugehen: Entweder man begibt sich in die Hände einer großen Firma und wird mehr oder weniger zum Angestellten – oder man sucht sich ein paar Freunde und macht weiter seine eigene Musik, so wie damals, als alles anfing.
Goldfish sind trotzig. Sie machen es „wie früher“. Eines Tages kommt dann jemand und macht der Band eine Liebeserklärung: So entstand der Longplayer „Coming Home“ auf Steve Morells Label 'Pale-Music'.

Die Band - Danuta, Ef, Benni, Lutz und Tilman – lebt vom kompromis-slosen Glauben an den eigenen Geschmack. Die Einflüsse der Bandmitglieder - von den Wipers über die Breeders bis zu Portishead und indischer Tabla-Musik - werden neu gewichtet und gemixt, und heraus kommen Songperlen unerhörter Dichte und Intensität. Dabei treffen elegische Tracks wie „About today“ auf sphärische Stücke wie das schwebende „Snow“ - der Soundtrack zum Fernweh.
Goldfish gelingt es, durch gesunde Rücksichtslosigkeit einen eigenen Charakter zu präsentieren. Hörbar etwa in dem Ohrwurm „Carry Your Name“, eine surreale Liebeserklärung, oder dem maschinenartigen, hypnotisch-wütenden „Rock The Floor“.
Die Texte von Danuta sind, so sagt sie, „eine Mischung aus eigenen Erfahrungen, gehörten Geschichten und meinen Vorstellungen dazu.“ So geht es im CD-Opener „My House“ um die Verteidigung dessen, was man 'Zuhause' nennt; „Watch Out For The Bird Songs“ ist ein Aufruf, nicht in Selbstmitleid zu versinken.
Der Sound von Goldfish überzeugte übrigens auch die Produzenten Thomas Stern und Olaf Bruns. Während Stern, ehemaliges Mitglied von Crime & the City Solution und Produzent von Meret Becker und Katharina Franck, für einige Stücke seinen Bass wieder auspackte, fertigte Olaf Bruhn (Seeed, Bela B) einen hübschen Mix von "Carry Your Name".

Done everything, seen everything... If a musician has gone through a lot in the so called “business”, there are basically two options to choose from: You can either hand yourself to a big company and turn more or less into an employee or you can look for some friends and continue with your own music, as it was in the beginning.
Goldfish are defiant. They do it like it used to be. All of a sudden someone declares his love to the band: That's how “Coming Home“ came into existence and got released on Steve Morell's label           “Pale-Music“.
The band – Danuta, Ef, Benni, Lutz and Tilman – lives from its uncompromising trust in its own taste. The influences of the band members – reaching from the Wipers over the Breeders to Portishead and Indian tabla music – get newly weighted and mixed resulting
in song pearls of outrageous density and intensity. Elegiac tracks like “About Today” meet spherical pieces like the floating “Snow” - the soundtrack to wanderlust.
Goldfish also manage, by being ruthless in a healthy manner, to present their own character. This can be heard when listening to the catchy tune “Carry Your Name”, a surreal declaration of love, or the machine-like, hypnotic raging “Rock The Floor”.
Danuta's lyrics are, as she says, “a mixture of personal experiences, stories I heard and my imaginations I have about them.” The first track on the CD, “My House”, for example, deals with defending what you call your home. “Watch Out For The Birdsongs” is a wake-up call not to feel sorry for oneself.
The depth and authenticity of the Goldfish sound also convinced the producers Thomas Stern and Olaf Bruns. While Stern, former member of Crime & the City Solution and producer for Meret Becker and Katharina Frank, grabbed his bass to perform on some tracks, Olaf Bruhn (Seed, Bela B) created a nice mixdown of “Carry Your Name”.
